Company Profile
iGuzzini illuminazione, is an Italian Manufacturer of Architectural and Retail lighting with headquarters in Recanati, Italy. iGuzzini has been in the UK since 1990, and in 2008 a new UK Headquarters and state of the art showroom was opened in Guildford, Surrey. iGuzzini has subsidiaries throughout the world including Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark Norway, USA, and UAE making it one of the leading current lighting manufacturers in Europe.
With the combination of technical lighting know-how and a vast cultural knowledge, the iGuzzini factory is a perfect production centre with high flexibility and enthusiasm for its superior quality in the design and technical application of the light fittings borne from close collaboration with architects and lighting designers.
The list of such names is long. Many products in the range are attributed to the likes of Gae Aulenti, Piero Castiglioni, Bruno Gecchelin, Ron Arad and Nicholas Grimshaw.
Architects have developed well known designs for their particular projects which have then become bench marks for iGuzzini’s range, for example, the ‘Lingotto’ and ‘Le Perroquet’ from Piano Design Workshop, ‘Saturn’ (Foster and Partners) and ‘Linealuce’ (Jean Michel Wilmotte). Several awards for quality have since been merited to the company, for example ‘Compasso d’Oro’ (Mailand), ‘Die gute Industrieform’ (Hannover), ‘Design Auswahl’ (Stuttgart), ‘Oscar Snai’ (Paris), Viennale Industrial Design (Ljubljana).
The range of products is complete with catalogues for internal and external fittings. All products are manufactured with high quality dies-cast aluminium and other materials, which have all been tested and awarded guaranteed certificates. Each product is manufactured and tested in house and there is much time and attention give to new product designs. iGuzzini works very hard towards lighting for the future demands of the customers, taking into account lighting pollution and the health issues of people working with lighting. At the factory there is a technical laboratory for the bio-dynamic lighting system, SIVRA, which is the only lighting system of its kind.
iGuzzini is a client-orientated company with services including free assistance with the planning of lighting projects, technical advice and assistance on lighting projects and post sales assistance on installations.
Cpd's
Two RIBA approved CPD lighting seminars are also offered free of charge at the studios of architects and lighting designers; “Better Light for a Better Life” which teach the scientific and aesthetic approach to lighting from the point of view of the effect they wish to create and “-CO2 Relighting: The Route to Sustainable Lighting” which will demonstrate how the use of technology such as high efficiency lamps, high yield optics and electronic components can decrease carbon emissions. It also covers external light pollution, legislation to adhere to and incentives available.
Sustainability
iGuzzini are committed to achieving the ecological, economic and social responsibility objectives of sustainable development, exemplified by our motto “Better Light for a Better Life”
As a group we are proud to have achieved ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System Certification) and the Company is proactive in identifying any adverse environmental impact associated with its activities, products and services and to control them by developing, implementing and maintaining systems which are consistent to this policy and which reflect the environmental circumstances of their businesses including the needs of their customers. Our ISO certificate is shown on the following pages.
The iGuzzini headquarters in Recanati, Italy achieved a rating of 3.5 on the Italian environmental sustainability certification system, the highest score ever registered in Italy for an office building. Our new UK office recently achieved a BREAM rating of “Excellent” due to its use of alternative energy sources and daylight linked lighting.
Our manufacturing practices now utilise recycled materials, recyclable packaging (along with other suitably sourced materials) and we actively seek to promote the use of high-efficiency light sources and implement all possible solutions in our lighting designs to guarantee a low environmental impact. We ensure this by providing luminaires with superior optical control, high efficiency electronic control gear whilst incorporating the latest advances in lamp technologies and by having a multi-disciplined, highly specialised and well informed lighting design team.
iGuzzini UK are members of Lumicom, an organisation created to deal with WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) from the lighting industry. At the end of their life our products will be collected, re-used, recycled and reprocessed to ensure a ‘Green’ end of life.
